What We Offer
Overcoming Abuse
It can be frightening to leave an abusive situation, especially if there is no safety net waiting on the other side. The most significant barriers to escaping an abusive environment is the lack of financial freedom and the feeling of shame or guilt, yet the victims have done nothing wrong. A4S believes that everyone deserves to live a life free from violence and exploitation. Whether the victims have had domestic violence, child abuse, narcissistic abuse, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking, bullying, victim of human trafficking, or need support for other reasons, we operate as a safe haven from these atrocities.
Supporting Survivors
We know that once someone gets out of an abusive situation, they may still need support in rebuilding their life. No one understands what survivors have been through more than other survivors. That's why it's so important to have a strong community filled with other survivors, as well as professionals to help guide them in their healing journey. We offer a variety of programs in partnership with other nonprofits and for-profit businesses to address those needs and help survivors take back control of their lives.
We Need Your Help
Abuse is a global issue and unfortunately, the fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic has only made things worse for victims. The United Nations called the situation a “shadow pandemic” in a 2021 report about domestic violence in 13 nations. To get a better understanding of how many people are affect by abuse listed below are some statistics with their source:
- Nearly 20 people per minute (more than 10 million men and women a year) are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States – NCADV
- 81% of women and 43% of men reported experiencing some form of sexual harassment and/or assault in their lifetime - CDC.
- Every 73 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted and every 9 minutes, that victim is a child - RAINN.
- Child abuse reports involved 7.2 million children. In 2020, 1,750 children died of abuse and neglect in the United States. - CDC
A4S is committed to helping trauma victims but we need your help. It is our turn to show survivors we are willing to take a stand for their freedom and fight for what is right by providing a glimmer of hope and be a part of the change.
